Signed by the San Francisco Giants as an amateur free agent in 1958.
Dick received an emergency call from the Giants June 1961 while he was pitching for the Rio Grande Valley in the minors. The youngster pitched impressively and became an important member of the bullpen brigade. Dick has a strong arm and good stuff.
In Dick's first major league performance he retired all 8 men he faced.
