Jim Davenport contributed mightily to his team's cause right from his rookie year (1958)when he slugged 12 homers and scored 70 runs while appearing in 134 games. Always a Giant for every one of his 13 seasons, Jim played every inield position, but was primarily used at third base.
During Davenport's career, the Giants were in World Series play only once 162, which, it turns out, was Jim's best yea at the plate. That year he turned in career highs in at bats, hits, homers, runs scored, walks, BA and slugging.
Jim mangaged the Giants during the '85 season.
